Kim has been working as a nurse since 1994. It has been a long, 20+ year adventure to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). As an RN, she worked in long term elder care and multiple acute care facilities on adult inpatient/outpatient units including cardiac telemetry, ICU, Post Op Recovery, Endoscopy and Special Procedures, Her last role while in graduate school was working in Clinical Informatics as an RN-project assistant/instructor/liaison between clinical and information technology systems while the hospital organization implemented a new Electronic Medical Record system-wide in their hospitals and clinics.
Her career/education journey started when she attended a vocational college in California to become an LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse). Soon after, she began pursuing her RN, obtaining an ADN degree (Associate of Science Degree, Nursing) at the community college level. Once settling in Portland with her family and new job, she attended Linfield College obtaining a BSN (Bachelor of Science, Nursing). Feeling pulled to continue advancing her education, Kim continued to work as an RN while pursuing her Masters Degree to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Gonzaga University, in Spokane, Washington.
Kim has always been interested in and has held a deep respect for mental health as it affects all aspects of healthcare. She looks forward to spending the remainder of her career serving clients with mental illness, while working to shatter the stigma that surrounds it.
Kim most values the relationships she makes with her clients: "I get immense personal and professional satisfaction from watching my patients grow on a personal level, heal, and manage their mental health diagnoses while under my care and beyond."
