Professional Background, Training, & Areas of Interest
Havilah Brodhead is a dual-certified acute care and family care nurse practitioner with 10+ years combined experience in healthcare. She is the found and director of COAPP as well as owner/provider of her own family medical practice , Hearthside Family Medicine Care, currently located in the Pilot Butte Medical Center next door to the Bend, Oregon hospital. Her practice is unique in that she offers house calls, 45-60 min long office appointments, easy access direct to provider via text or email, and can see infants to senior adults. She also incorporates holistic/alternative modalities into her conventional medical practice. Hearthside Family Medicine Care accepts most insurances and offers a sliding income based cash rate for those who are self-pay.
Havilah grew up in Gunnison, Colorado from her hometown university, Western State in 2008, with a degree in Spanish & pre-med emphasis. It was in the Rocky Mountain playground she cultivated her love for mountain biking and skiing.
She began her journey in healthcare in 2008 with a Master's degree in Nursing & Clinical Nurse Leadership from California State University. Her thesis explored the blending of complimentary & alternative medicine with traditional/conventional medicine.
Focusing in acute care, she worked for the next several years in emergency medicine and intensive care at hospitals such as OHSU in Portland, Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City & Park City, and St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver.
While working on her Acute Care and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Colorado State University, Havilah worked as a bilingual RN for Boulder County Public Health, where she provided home visits for prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric care to high-need/high-risk families.
Upon completing her nurse practitioner degree in 2014, Havilah & her husband moved to Bend to be closer to family (and the mountain biking). She has since practiced primary care and urgent care/walk-in care for La Pine Community Health Center & St. Charles, as well as PRN for Deschutes Onsite Clinic & Oregon Youth Challenge.
She is excited to have more time with her patients, provide more holistically-centered care, and offer house calls.
In her free time, she enjoys directing a local medical organization she founded in 2016 called Central Oregon Advanced Practice Providers (COAPP) & Central Oregon Health Professionals. But of course, her greatest joy is spending time with her two little daughters and husband.
