COAPP is working with The National Clinical Training Center for Family Planning to arrange for long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) training for all interested providers, which includes an intrauterine device (IUD) and NEXPLANON workshop/training (CE eligible & FREE)
A typical training includes
· IUD Placement & Removal Basics
Intrauterine device (IUD) training is split between a 1.5 hour on line didactic and a hands on 3- hour training that involves both didactic review and hands-on skills-based portions on proper placement and removal of Skyla®, Mirena®, Kyleena ®, ParaGard® and Liletta®.
· LARC Challenging Cases - Complications & Difficult Placements and Removals
In this session, participants will explore strategies to reduce the number of failed IUD placements, streamline implant removal and minimize the risk of adverse events with placement and removal of LARC methods. Participants will receive 3 techniques for minimizing the risk of perforation. In addition, advanced techniques for difficult contraceptive implant removals and strategies for dealing with IUD removals with missing strings will be discussed.
· Clinical Training Program for NEXPLANON
Training session will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Portland 1000 NE Multnohmah, Portland, OR 97232 near the Lloyd Center. Please check hotel signs for room assignments upon arrival.

1:00 - 4:00 pm: Clinical training program for Nexplanon
Friday, January 25th:
8:00 - 9:00 a.m.: Sign in opens; Virtual pelvic simulators available for enhanced IUD placement
9:00 - 12:00 p.m: IUD Placement & Removal Basics review and practice
12:00 - 1:30 p.m.: Lunch &/or Simulators: Lunch on your own (*due to federal guidance, meals
cannot be provided by the National Clinical Training Center); Virtual pelvic simulators available for
enhanced IUD placement training experience.
1:30 - 4:30 p.m. LARC Challenging Cases session
4:30 - 5:30 P.M. Virtual pelvic simulator practice (optional)
Evaluation & CE Credit: Participants will receive an online survey via email after the training concludes to evaluate the training and request continuing education (CE) credit. Completion of this survey is required in order to receive continuing education credit.
